Criminal Defense Attorney

Criminal Defense Lawyer

Lawyer serving Hudson, River Falls, Balsam Lake, and New Richmond, Wisconsin

Being accused of a criminal offense is a terrifying and confusing experience. As a criminal defense attorney, I understand this, and I am on your side. My clients often say I'm the first person who has truly listened to them explain.

When you are arrested or charged with a crime, it is easy to panic. If you are aware of your rights, you can respond in a calm, collected manner. It may be that you simply happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. You may have fallen victim to a scheme setup by a "friend" or just have been arrested by mistake due to any number of other false scenarios. Even the arrest itself may have been mishandled by the police. You have the right to question every aspect of your dealings with law enforcement.

Receive guidance through the process from a professional criminal defense attorney. Even in circumstances that indicate guilt, you still need an attorney to protect you and your future. I will fight for you and your rights.

You must understand that in criminal cases, time is exceptionally important. The case against you may have already started. If you or any of your family members are suspected, arrested, or questioned for a Wisconsin state crime, contact me immediately. I guarantee a free, confidential consultation to discuss your situation and determine how to proceed.

What To Do

Do Not Incriminate Yourself

If you are contacted or arrested by the police, exercise your rights. While your inclination may be to cooperate with police in order to prove your innocence, this strategy can easily backfire. You may inadvertently implicate yourself or mistakenly admit guilt under pressure. Do not risk making your situation worse by talking to police. If you end up being questioned by a police officer about a potential crime, you should not talk. Tell the officer:

"Officer, Please Understand – I refuse to talk with you until I consult my attorney Joel Larimore. I want to call him now. I also refuse to consent to the search of these premises or any other premises in which I have an interest, or my car, or my body or my effects. I desire to exercise all my rights. I want to be left alone. If you ignore my exercise of these rights and attempt to procure a waiver, I want to confer with my lawyer prior to any conversations with you. I want to leave. If I am free to leave, please tell me immediately so I can go about my business. If you attempt to question me, I want my lawyer present."
